How To Help > Volunteer Opportunities ![]()
With your help, we can help end hunger for more than 90,000 people in our community. Join us today! Sort food & Stock shelves Our greatest need is volunteers who are willing to be trained for food sorting activities. A large portion of food handled each month by the food bank comes from local grocers and other donors. Every item needs to be inspected, sorted, and placed on the shelves. This opportunity is available during our warehouse hours from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please click here for more information. Generate a Food Drive Food drives are an excellent source of providing variety of food for our member agencies. Coordinate a food drive at your church, school or company. Please click here for more information. Brown Bag for the Elderly This direct service program provides food for low-income seniors when they need it most - at the end of the month when Social Security income is running low. Each month, volunteers meet at the food bank to pack more than 1,500 grocery bags with non-perishable items from our warehouse for income-eligible senior citizens. For a schedule of Brown Bag volunteer Saturdays, click here. Tutor at a Kids Cafe This after school program provides nutritious, hot evening meals to children eligible for free and reduced-price school lunches. Our 28 Kids Cafe sites need volunteers to provide tutorial assistance. Assist with Adminstrative duties We distribute information about our mission to supporters, member agencies, board members and others which require bulk mailing projects. We organize mailings throughout the year and are always looking for volunteers to assist us.
