Events > Hunger Awareness Month
As food and fuel costs soar, people experiencing layoffs due to the economy are joining the working poor at an alarming rate in facing food insecurity -- the inability to access enough nutrition due to low income. The face of hunger is changing as Americans struggle to get a grip on the housing market and job market while facing unforeseen prices at the grocery store as well as the gas pump. For more information on hunger in America, read the USA Today cover story "New breed of American emerges in need of food." Take action this September, the nationally designated Hunger Action Month by organizing a food drive with your church, school, civic group, or company. You can help people in need in your own backyard -- particularly those who are too young or too old to work for food. Call 912.721.1791 for details. Senior citizens, children, and working poor families in our community need your help. Buy Tickets Now: |
